The National Board of Examinations (NBE) is set to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2024 on July 7. Cutoff Date for Eligibility

Recently rescheduled from March 3, 2024, to July 7, the NEET PG 2024 exam presents aspiring medical professionals with a clarified timeline. The cutoff date for eligibility is August 15, 2024. Applicants who submit their forms within the specified timeframe will receive the admit card. The NBE will notify candidates of the admit card via a message to their registered number. What about the NExT Exam?

According to the new rules called “Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023,” the current NEET-PG exam will continue until they start conducting a new test called the National Exit Test (NExT) for postgraduate admissions. You need to pass NEET-PG to get into MD/MS or PG diploma courses under the National Medical Commission Act 2019. NEET PG 2024: Exam Pattern

Speaking of the NEET PG exam pattern, the test will take place online in computer-based testing (CBT) mode. Prepare for a comprehensive three-hour and thirty-minute examination. The exam will be conducted solely in English, featuring a total of 200 questions. The question paper will be segmented into three sections—Sections A, B, and C. These questions, all of the multiple-choice type, collectively account for 800 marks.  Candidates earn 4 marks for every correct answer, and 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect response. There’s no negative marking for unanswered questions, and answers marked for review are evaluated based on correctness.

The scorecard will be issued to successful graduates. Following the result announcement, the MCC will organize NEET PG 2024 counseling for admission to 50% All India Quota (AIQ), 50% state quota, 100% deemed/central universities, and ESIC/AFMS institutes. The counseling process includes four rounds of AIQ: round 1, round 2, mop-up round, and stray vacancy round. Candidates participating in counseling need to register, pay fees and indicate their preferred courses and colleges. Admission will be granted based on the graduates’ choices, rank, and seat availability.

NEET PG 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates aspiring to take the exam must ensure that they meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Possess a valid MBBS degree from an institution recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI), along with an MBBS degree or provisional certificate.
  2. Successful completion of the rotatory internship.
  3. Possession of a provisional or permanent medical registration certificate issued by MCI or a State Medical Council to be presented on the exam day and during the admission process.
  4. Candidates who have pursued/qualified MBBS from Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible for All India 50% Quota seats unless nominated by the Government of India (under central pool seats) to study MBBS in Medical Colleges in Jammu & Kashmir. Such candidates are required to submit a duly signed affidavit declaring this.
  5. Applicants who have obtained their MBBS degree from outside India must have qualified for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE).

As per the “Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023,” all counseling rounds will be conducted online, with a unified process across Indian medical institutions based on merit lists. Independent college admissions are prohibited, and fees must be specified in the seat matrix. Other changes include formative assessments and multiple-choice questions in university exams for objectivity.

Additionally, modifications to the District Residency Programme (DRP) involve reducing the minimum bed requirement for district hospitals to 50, making training more accessible. The DRP aims to strengthen healthcare services at the grassroots level by training postgraduate students in district health systems.
