Who conducts counselling
The NEET UG counselling is conducted by MCC, which works under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. MCC conducts counselling for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) in private and government medical colleges, central and deemed universities, JIPMER, ESIC, and AIIMS. It is meant for individuals who have passed the NEET UG exam, administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA). MCC’s counselling aims to guarantee the equitable and merit-based distribution of MBBS/BDS seats across the nation.
State counselling is conducted by the respective state authorities. It conducts counselling for 85% of the state quota seats, which includes admission to government and private medical colleges for MBBS, BDS, and other medical courses. Every state has different eligibility criteria and counselling schedules. State counselling guarantees that students from a specific state receive equitable access to local seats while also upholding transparency through merit-based distribution. Applicants need to submit individual applications on the official websites of their specific state counselling boards in order to take part in this process.
