Medical studies at Semmelweis University are available in English and German. Founded in 1769, the Medical University of Budapest today bears the name of the famous doctor Ignaz Semmelweis. Of the current 9,220 students, 1,600 come from abroad, which underlines the international orientation of the education.

Semmelweis University combines over 250 years of tradition with modern, multilingual teaching. The degree programmes in human medicine and dentistry can be completed in English as well as other languages. Due to the EU-compliant orientation of the curriculum, a transfer to Germany or Austria is possible. However, most students finish their studies in Budapest. This is because not only the university, but also the city itself offers numerous amenities for students.
